Every invention begins with curiosity.

While experimenting with sculptural materials along the Gulf Coast, Gregory Michael Maness explored ways to push artwork beyond the flat canvas and create dimensional sculptural edges.

Living and working along Pensacola Beach, Maness found inspiration in the meeting of seafoam and clouds along the shoreline.

During experimentation, the artist’s Cloud Foamulus™ expanding medium was applied to a surface and combined with the brilliant white sands of Pensacola Beach.

The material expanded like the living clouds and seafoam along the shoreline

As the sculptural surface formed, Pensacola Beach sand became infused into the artist’s Cloud Foamulus™ expanding medium, creating a shimmering coastal texture.

That moment marked the birth of a new artistic medium called Cloud Foamulus™.
