Meet the Artist

Gregory Michael Maness, affectionately known as “Grego,” is a self-taught artist whose work seamlessly intertwines creative passion and raw emotion. Born in vibrant Miami, Florida, Grego’s early paintings reflect the energy and vibrancy of his tropical upbringing. Now residing in the historic town of Milton, Florida, near Pensacola, Grego creates from his studio along the tranquil Blackwater River on the Emerald Coast. His artistic journey also carries the influence of his years in San Diego, California, where the vision for GregoArt Studio first came to life.

Grego draws inspiration from the bold and vibrant palettes of Van Gogh, Monet, and Matisse. His distinctive style incorporates various techniques, particularly Impasto, where thick layers of paint are skillfully applied with palette knives to create dynamic, textured compositions on wrap-around 3D canvases. Since the 1990s, Grego’s work has celebrated the interplay of color, texture, and composition, showcasing his love for art through captivating amalgamations of hues and expressive techniques.

For nearly 15 years, Grego paused his artistic pursuits to design and build Casi Cielo Vineyard and Winery in San Diego, California. Immersed in the world of winemaking and viticulture, Grego found fresh inspiration in the serene landscapes, vineyard scenes, and countryside vistas he encountered. These experiences heavily influence his later works, which often depict rustic landscapes and field worker scenes, capturing the beauty of rural life with authenticity and depth.

A deeply spiritual individual, Grego credits his God-given talent and Christian upbringing as the foundation of his worldview and artistic journey. Now, in what he lovingly refers to as his “Twilight Years,” Grego feels a renewed sense of purpose and divine calling. Returning to his easel with a passion, he infuses his multi-faceted art with spiritual undertones that resonate deeply with his audience.

Grego’s work has been showcased in Galleries from Pensacola, Florida to Los Angeles, La Jolla and Little Italy San Diego, California,, while many of his pieces have found homes in private collections and businesses across the country. Celebrated for its vivid storytelling and emotional depth, his art continues to captivate collectors and admirers alike. Currently, Grego offers collectible artworks for sale online and has recently launched a limited-edition clothing line, “Vacation Mode,” designed for men and women. Soon, fans will have the opportunity to tour the GregoArt Studio by advanced reservation, experiencing an intimate view of his original works.

When not painting, Grego indulges his decades-long love of culinary arts, skillfully pairing food with wine to create memorable experiences for family and guests. His annual gardening pursuits yield vibrant flowers and fragrant herb gardens, further enriching his creative life. Married for over 35 years, Grego continues to draw inspiration from the simple yet profound beauty of everyday life.

“Indeed, I am blessed,” Grego reflects. “It seems God has a new plan for me, and I’m thrilled to create with His guidance once again.”

Gregory Michael Maness, affectionately known as “Grego,” is a self-taught artist whose work blurs the boundaries between creative passion and raw emotion. Born in Miami, Florida, Grego’s early paintings reflect the vibrant energy of his tropical upbringing. Now based in the historical town of Milton near Pensacola, Florida, Grego creates from his studio nestled along the serene Black Water River on the Emerald Coast. His art also carries the influence of his time in San Diego, California, where the concept of GregoArt Studio first took root.

Inspired by the bold and vibrant colors of Van Gogh, Monet, and Matisse, Grego employs impasto techniques, skillfully layering thick paint with palette knives to produce dynamic, textured pieces on 3D wrap-around canvases. His work, which began in the 1990s, is a celebration of color and composition, born from a deep desire to communicate his love of art through visually captivating amalgamations of hues and textures.

For nearly 15 years, Grego took a hiatus from painting to build and design Casi Cielo Vineyard and Winery. This chapter immersed him in the art of winemaking and viticulture, providing fresh inspiration for his later works, which include landscapes and field worker scenes inspired by vineyards, orchards, and fields.

Deeply spiritual, Grego credits his God-given talent and Christian upbringing for shaping his worldview and rekindling his creative journey. Now in what he calls the “twilight years” of his life, Grego feels a renewed sense of purpose and divine calling to return to his easel, infusing his work with a spiritual overtone that resonates deeply with viewers.

Grego’s art has been showcased in galleries across America, from La Jolla and Los Angeles to private collections and businesses nationwide. Thrilled to share his creations once again, Grego now offers online sales and plans to welcome art enthusiasts to private studio tours by appointment.

When not painting, Grego channels his creativity into cooking with wines and tending to his garden. Married for over 35 years, he continues to find joy and inspiration in the simple yet profound beauty of life.

"Where Creativity and Madness Collide"

Gregory Michael Maness is the visionary force behind GregoArt Studios, where art steps boldly beyond the frame and into the beautifully bizarre. With a style that dances between surrealism and satire, his work is instantly recognizable—often featuring bold color, emotionally charged characters, and a wink of the wonderfully obscure.

Over the passing decades, only a dozen or so original paintings, drawings, and sketches were allowed to be sold—mostly to private collectors and close family members. The vast majority of Maness’s work remained secured in a private family trust, unseen by the public. Now, for the first time in history, the GregoArt Collection has been carefully organized—featuring many never-before-seen originals alongside limited edition reproductions now available for purchase.

By visiting this site, you’ve already unlocked your VIP Viewing Pass. You’re officially inside—welcome to the inner world of GregoArt. Explore the full collection, dive into the stories behind the brushstrokes, and discover artwork that pulses with life, mystery, and emotional depth.
